Jimmy Street plays FORESTONE reeds
Jimmy Street on Forestone Reeds:
“Any sax player who has played professionally can tell you about his struggles with reeds. Years ago, I was tired of the constant inconsistencies that I experienced and upon hearing about a famous saxophonist who had made the transition to a synthetic reed, decided that it was time for me to try as well. It has not been an easy transition and frankly, it has taken years. But about a year ago, I found a synthetic reed that played well enough to actually play on a gig. As I became more adept at using the reed, I loved its consistency, but alas, my altissimo suffered considerably. Then, a little over a month ago, I met the good people who manufacture Forestone reeds at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California. I couldn’t believe the difference! The reed played wonderfully. And, the altissimo was there -- in fact -- more reliable than ever! I wanted to test out the durability of the reed and so I kept the same reed on my tenor for both practice and for gigs and a month later it was still playing great. I doubt that I’ll ever go back to cane. Every time that I try a cane reed, I take it off and put my Forestone reed back onto my mouthpiece. For all of you sax players who are fed up with all the inconsistencies and short life of a cane reed, you savior has arrived. Finally there is a reed that you can count on every time that you pick up your horn. Forestone Reeds!”
