I-Ming Lin is a saxophonist and educator from Taiwan. He received his Bachelor’s degree in
2012 from the Department of Music at Shih Chien University, Taipei. After completing his
military service with the Ministry of National Defense symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, he was
awarded a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, majoring in Jazz
Performance.
In 2019, he earned a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies from the University of the Arts in
Philadelphia, followed by a Master’s degree in Classical Saxophone Performance from
Rowan University in New Jersey in 2021.
In 2022, Lin published his first music book, 36 Jazz Etudes. After returning to Taiwan in
2021, he formed the duo Duowise with renowned Taiwanese pianist Guras Batu, focusing on
original compositions. Their debut original album is scheduled for release in November 2025.
From 2022 to 2025, Lin has performed with various ensembles at the Taipei, Taichung, and
Tainan Jazz Festivals. Since 2022, he has also collaborated multiple times with Leo Wang,
winner of the Best Male Singer award at the 2019 Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan.
He is currently on the faculty of the Music Program at Taichung Chingshui High School, the
Department of Music at National Taichung University of Education, and the Department of
Music at Shih Chien University.
